UAB MBB Travels to Western Kentucky

BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's basketball (21-8, 12-6 C-USA) travels to Western Kentucky (15-13, 7-10 C-USA) on Saturday to face the Hilltoppers. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series 26-18. WKU took the first meeting of the season in Birmingham, 80-78. Dayvion McKnight score 27 points for the Hilltoppers while Jordan Walker scored 28. Trey Jemison and KJ Buffen each had double-doubles.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers dominated Rice at home, 85-57. Jordan Walker recorded his eighth career 30-point game with a 32-point, 8-assist effort to break the previous UAB record. The Blazers opened the game in dominant fashion, taking a 50-13 lead after 17 minutes.

He dropped 38 points in the season opener against Alabama State, the most scored by a UAB player in a season opener ever. Walker then captured Sunshine Slam MVP honors after scoring 31 points to go along with 6 rebounds, five assists and five steals against Georgia. He earned C-USA Player of the Week honors for his performance in the tournament. He became the first UAB player to score 30+ points eight times as a Blazer, passing Andy Kennedy. Walker has scored 30 or more points in five games this season.
A TALL TASK
Opposing big men will face an uphill battle against UAB center Trey Jemison, who leads the Blazers in total rebounds (239), rebounds per game (8.2), blocks (55), and blocks per game (1.9) in 2021-22. The 7-foot center teams with transfers Javian Davis and Ty Brewer, along with returners Rongie Gordon and KJ Buffen, to form one of the best front courts in Conference USA.

The Blazers are one of the best teams in the country at getting to the charity stripe. UAB is eighth in the nation in free throws made per game at 17.3 while ranking sixth nationally in free throw attempts per game with 23.8. At the line, the Blazers are knocking down their attempts at a 73.0 percent clip, ranking 123rd in the country.

UAB currently ranks near the top of the NCAA leaderboards in rebounds per game and offensive rebounds per game. The Blazers currently sit at No. 2 in the NCAA in rebounds per game at 41.2 and they are No. 2 in offensive rebounds per game at 13.8. The Blazers lead Conference USA in both categories.
