UAB Men's Tennis Takes Down Furman, Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UAB men's tennis (6-2) picked up a pair of wins over the weekend to extend its winning streak to six-straight matches. The Blazers downed Furman on Saturday, 6-1, before taking a 7-0 victory over Wofford on Sunday.
In addition to extending their winning streak to six-straight matches, the Blazers have earned the doubles point in seven matches in a row.
Michal Lusovsky has continued his impressive start to the season, moving to 7-0 in singles play with a pair of wins on Court One.
UAB 6, FURMAN 1
The Blazers took the first match of the week in dominant fashion. Lusovsky and Nouchakis took a 6-4 win on Court One while Bradbary and Postolka took Court Three, 6-4, to secure the doubles point.
Furman tied the match after Kennedy defeated Podzemny on Court Three (6-1, 6-1), but Georgios Nouchakis won in straight sets on Court Four over Connor Laymon (6-2, 6-1). Noah Malige extended the UAB lead to 3-1 with a win on Court Five (6-4, 6-3).
Roman Postolka secured the match for the Blazers on Court Two (6-4, 6-3). On Court Six, Carlos Gimenez Perez earned his second singles win of the season over Cole Burnam (6-4, 6-2). To close the match, Lusovsky took down Jerry Barton on Court One (6-3, 7-6 [8-6]).
UAB 7, WOFFORD 0
In the second match of the weekend, UAB dominated from start to finish. The Blazers took the doubles point with wins by Lusovsky and Nouchakis on Court One (6-4), and Postolka and Bradbary on Court Three (7-6 [7-3]).
In singles play, Michal Lusovsky quickly made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win on Court One, extending his streak to start the season. Roman Postolka followed suit with a 6-1, 6-3 victory to make it 3-0 for the Blazers.
Carlos Gimenez Perez clinched the match on Court Six with a 6-4, 6-1 decision to make it 4-0 for the Blazers. Thanos Spyropoulos earned his third singles win of the season (6-3, 6-3) on Court Five.
Court Three and Court Four each went to third set tiebreakers. The Blazers were able to get the win on each court. Georgios Nouchakis defeated Will Fullett (6-3, 5-7 [13-11]) to make it 6-0 before Vojtech Podzemny took Court Three over Robbie Young in an extremely close match (7-6 [7-3], 6-7 [3-7], [10-7]).
