UAB Men’s Tennis Splits Weekend with No. 20 Mississippi State, Lipscomb

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Men's Tennis (7-3) split its two contests over the weekend, falling to No. 20 Mississippi State, 5-2, and sinking Lipscomb, 7-0. Roman Postolka finished the week going 2-0 in singles play and doubles play while picking up a win over a ranked opponent.

MISSISSIPPI STATE 5, UAB 2
The Blazers traveled to Starkville on Saturday to face off with the Bulldogs (11-1). Parker Bradbary and Roman Postolka took Court 3 in doubles play, but the Blazers dropped each of the other two courts, giving Mississippi State the doubles point.

No. 113 Carles Hernandez of Mississippi State defeated Vojtech Podzemny 6-1, 6-4 to make it 2-0 for MSU and Nemanja Malesevic took Court One over Michal Lusovsky 6-3, 6-4. Mississippi State was able to secure the match with a win on Court 6 as Michal Novansky defeated Carlos Gimenez Perez 6-4, 7-5.

Noah Malige was able to get the Blazers on the board in the third set, defeating Gregor Ramskogler (4-6, 7-6 [7-5], 10-3) to make it 4-1. Roman Postolka picked up a ranked win on Court 2, as he defeated No. 107 Petar Jovanovic (6-2, 4-6, 6-4). Sanchez Martinez defeated Georgios Nouchakis on Court 4 in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 6-4) to close the match.

UAB 7, LIPSCOMB 0
In the second match of the weekend, the Blazers dominated from start to finish. UAB secured the doubles point with wins from Parker Bradbary and Roman Postolka on Court 3 and Noah Malige and Nikola Puric on Court 2.

Noah Malige made quick work of his opponent on Court 5, defeating Luka Stojanovic 6-1, 6-0. Thanos Spyropoulos followed suit with a 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 3.

On Court 6, Carlos Gimenez Perez won in straight sets (6-4, 6-1) over Carlos Salas Tulla to clinch the match for the Blazers. Roman Postolka continued his impressive week with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Michal Lusovsky picked up a big win on Court 1 7-6 [7-0], 6-3. Vojtech Podzemny finished the match with a three-set win over Jake Penny 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

UP NEXT
The Blazers will take on Georgia State on Friday at the Hoover Met Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
