UAB Track and Field Prepares For C-USA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM – UAB finishes out its indoor season back where it all started at the Birmingham CrossPlex for the 2023 C-USA Indoor Championships. The Blazers begin Day 1 of the C-USA Competition on Saturday, Feb. 18 and finish Sunday, Feb. 19.
"It's always nice to compete at the Crossplex. We're familiar with it and we get to sleep in our own beds," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "At this point, many of the other teams are too, so it's not a major advantage, but it sure is nice."
Over five PRs were set at the Music City Challenge, including a PR from Birthe Franck-Petersen who also set a school record in the shot put. Trinity Fellows would also beat her previous jump of 3.58m to a new best of 3.60m.
Coach Thomas aims for many of his athletes to build off their previous performances in the past few meets. "The distance runners have been running well and we expect them to continue that. Trinity is vaulting well and is feeling confident. Kat is ready to hurdle in a big meet as well. Birthe is throwing well at the right time, so we're excited to see her do her thing."
