UAB Softball Drops 2024 Season Slate

BIRMINGHAM – After concluding the 2023 season under the helm of C-USA Coach of the Year AJ Daugherty, the Blazers released their 2024 Schedule on Friday afternoon. The schedule features high-level competition versus 2023 NCAA and WCWS appearance teams, a rematch against old C-USA foes, and a first-year appearance in the AAC.
"We are very excited about our 2024 schedule," said Daugherty. "It includes quality weekend tournaments early that will allow us to see some of the best teams in the country,"
The Blazers come off a 29-25 season and 16-8 conference slate in the final Conference USA Season. Following a stellar first season under Daugherty featuring a Player of the Year nod and six All-Conference team honors, the Green and Gold plan to build off the success entering 2024. "We feature seventeen matchups with teams with a top 50 RPI, and ten SEC matchups. Our AAC slate will be challenging, and we believe our non-conference scheduling will prepare us for that test."
TOURNEY TIME
The Blazers enter the season as they did last year: on the road. The Green and Gold make their season debut in mid-February at the Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament hosted by Mississippi State. UAB plans to take on the likes of the hosting Bulldogs on February 11 for the first time in three seasons.
The Green and Gold return to Alabama to compete in the South Alabama Invitational hosted by the Jaguars on February 16-18 before hosting their sole home tournament in the Green and Gold Classic featuring the 2023 WCWS Appearing Crimson Tide on February 23-28. The Blazers last meeting with the Crimson Tide at home saw a record crowd despite the 1-2 loss.
The Blazers take a break from tournament contention, welcoming Northern Iowa and Auburn to Mary Bowers for a mid-week meeting before returning on the road for the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss. UAB visits the Rebels for the first time since 2021, where the Green and Gold finished with a 13-5 victory in the Magnolia State.
AMERICAN APPEARANCE
Following the tournament circuit, the Blazers will open up the conference season similar to how they closed out the 2023 season: versus UTSA on March 8-10 at Mary Bowers before taking a weeklong trip to Florida to take on Colgate, FGCU (March 13) and Florida Atlantic (March 15-17).
The Road schedule continues with UAB traveling to Tuscaloosa for a second meeting against Alabama on March 20 before hosting the USF Bulls for the first time in over ten years. After a midweek non-con matchup for Game 74 against Southern Miss (March 26), the Blazers trek to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane to close out the Month of March.
UAB welcomes Mississippi State to Mary Bowers on April 3 before a weekend series versus UNT. With the Green and Gold securing their first series win over the Mean Green since 2018, the Blazers look to keep the momentum going.
THE FINAL PUSH
Another SEC meeting against Auburn follows before the Blazers enter a challenge-filled series of meetings against the Shockers of Wichita State and their newfound rival, Charlotte. The Green and Gold take a trip to Kansas, the first of two visits to the Sunflower State in four weeks before completing their home campaign versus the 2023 C-USA Regular Season Champion 49ers.
Closing out the regular season, the Blazers travel to Greenville, North Carolina to play the ECU Pirates, followed by a quick turnaround back to Wichita for the AAC Softball Tournament hosted by the Shockers May 9-11, 2024.

The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Softball, and Baseball (Regions Field & Young Memorial).
