Blazers Tie Series with Late Henderson Home Run

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Softball used a late Antonia Henderson home run and a Caitlin Russell complete game victory to tie the series against Memphis, defeating the Tigers, 2-1. Henderson hit her third big fly of the season, with a fly ball off the left fielder's glove and over the left-centerfield fence.
The Tigers got the scoring going in the third inning, driving in a leadoff double with a sacrifice bunt and a hard liner to centerfield.
UAB tied the game in the fifth inning, starting with a lead-off double to left centerfield. Hannah Dorsett sacrifice bunted to move Shirah over to third base, allowing a deep Madeline Flammia fly ball to drive in Flammia.
Henderson led off the sixth inning with a fly ball deep to the warning track, bouncing off the left fielder's glove and over the fence. The go-ahead home run was Henderson's third long ball of the season.
Russell threw a complete game win, her third complete game of the season. Russell dominated the Memphis hitters with five clean innings, allowing just one earned run and three hits in seven total innings.
