Women's Basketball Falls at Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA – Mia Moore recorded her fourth-straight double-double, but UAB women's basketball (9-3) fell at Saint Joseph's (12-1) on Thursday afternoon, 63-57.
The Blazers struggled from the field for most of the contest, shooting only .392 percent from the field, as UAB scored a season-low 57 points.
Mia Moore and Maddie Walsh each finished in double figures for the Blazers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Walsh matched her season-high of three 3FGs.
UAB jumped out to an early 10-2 lead before the first media timeout of the contest, but the Hawks answered right back and did not go away. With the Blazers leading 14-11 at the end of the first quarter, Saint Joseph's went on a 21-3 run to open the second quarter and took a commanding 32-17 lead. Ashton Elley hit a buzzer-beater at the end of the first half to cut the Hawks' advantage to 12 at the break.
The Blazers were able to claw their way back into the game in the third quarter on the defensive end. UAB held Saint Joseph's to only seven third quarter points to cut the deficit to just three.
In the fourth quarter UAB could not get in front of the Hawks despite cutting the margin to as little as one point.
The Blazers will be back in action on December 30 at Florida Atlantic. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
