SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series 8-0 over the Braves. The last meeting came in Andy Kennedy's debut as the Blazers' head coach, a 99-50 UAB win on November 25, 2020.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers picked up their first win of the 2023-24 season against Maryland on Sunday at the Asheville Championship, 66-63. Eric Gaines led UAB with 20 points, three assists and four steals while Alejandro Vasquez added 14 points. Christian Coleman and Yaxel Lendeborg each had four blocks.
SMOOTH LIKE "BUTTA"
After a freshman season that featured some impressive moments, Efrem "Butta" Johnson has high expectations in year two. Johnson averaged 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game last year while shooting 37.8 percent from beyond the arc and is set to take on a much larger role. Johnson scored a career high 17 points against Clemson earlier this season while adding three rebounds and three assists.
VETERAN PRESENCE
Javian Davis enters his final year of eligibility in 2023-24 and is primed to play a big role on this year's UAB team. Davis averaged 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season while splitting time with Trey Jemison. Davis opened the 2023-24 season with a career performance against Bradley, scoring 20 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and securing four steals while shooting 8-for-9 from the field.
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Throughout its history, the UAB men's basketball program has seen incredible success in Birmingham, holding a 436-107 record in Bartow Arena since the Blazers' on-campus home opened back in 1988. That success has continued with Andy Kennedy returning to his alma mater, as the third year UAB head coach holds a 48-7 record at home (Bartow and Legacy Arena) since taking over the program.
