BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team looks to ride the momentum from its victory in Denton into Ruston on Thursday when it faces LA Tech at the Thomas Assembly Center.
UAB LATELY
UAB (10-8, 2-7 C-USA) is coming off a 76-74 come-from-behind victory at North Texas on Jan. 21. The Blazers trailed by 17 points in the 3rd quarter before scoring 56 points in the 2nd half in the win. UAB is 3-4 on the road this season.
TECH LATELY
LA Tech (11-8, 4-5 C-USA) has dropped its last two contests to WKU and Middle Tennessee. Keiunna Walker is the league's third leading scorer with 16.9 points per game. The Lady Techsters are 6-3 at Thomas Assembly Center this season.
UAB AND TECH HISTORY
The teams have played each other 17 times, with Tech holding an 11-6 advantage. Oddly enough, each team has a winning record on the other's home floor with the two neutral contests coming at The Star in the 2020 and 2022 C-USA Championships.
LAST TIME AGAINST TECH
UAB cut a 12-point 4th quarter deficit down to three but could not get any closer as LA Tech came away with a 61-55 victory on Jan.14, 2023. Desiree Ware scored 12 points off the bench and Margaret Whitley added 11 points and six rebounds for the Blazers. Keiunna Walker scored a game-high 26 points and Amaya Brannon pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for the Lady Techsters.

UAB TO THE AAC
American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
