BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team returns to Bartow Arena on Saturday afternoon to host LA Tech. Tip time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (9-6, 1-5 C-USA) is coming off a 75-71 loss against WKU on Jan. 11. The Blazers are 6-1 at Bartow Arena this season.
LA TECH LATELY
LA Tech (10-6, 3-3 C-USA) defeated North Texas 81-66 on Jan. 11. The Lady Techsters are 2-2 on the road this season.
UAB AND LA TECH HISTORY
The teams have played each other 16 times, with Tech holding a 10-6 advantage. Oddly enough, each team has a winning record on the other's home floor with the two neutral contests coming at The Star in the 2020 and 2022 C-USA Championships.
LAST TIME AGAINST LA TECH
Top seed LA Tech defeated UAB 71-65 in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 C-USA Championship on March 10, 2022. Zakyia Weathersby led the Blazers with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and eight rebounds while Margaret Whitley scored her 1,000th career point.

American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, UTSA, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC and compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The move will be official on July 1, 2023.
