BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball (12-5, 3-3 C-USA) fell at home for the first time during the 2022-23 season to Western Kentucky (10-6, 2-3 C-USA) by a score of 80-78. Jordan Walker led the Blazers with 28 points, but Dayvion McKnight and Jordan Rawls combined for 43 points to pace the Hilltoppers.

Western Kentucky led throughout the first half, but the Blazers would not let the Hilltoppers lead expand to more than five. UAB started slowly on the offensive end, shooting only 37.9 percent from the field.

Jordan Walker and Ledarrius Brewer provided 22 of the Blazers' 30 first-half points. The duo shot 50 percent from the field while knocking down four three-pointers. UAB trailed 32-30 at the half.

The Blazers jumped in front early in the second half, taking the lead at the 16-minute mark. KJ Buffen and Trey Jemison began to take over inside. Buffen scored 13 points in the second half and Jemison scored eight points while grabbing 11 boards in the final 20 minutes.

WKU forced its way back in front late in the game, sparked by McKnight. Dontaie Allen knocked down a big three-pointer with 29 seconds remaining to give the Hilltoppers a three-point lead. Walker attempted to bring the Blazers back, but it was too late. UAB fell 80-78 as Buffen's half-court heave was off target.

NOTES

KJ Buffen and Trey Jemison each finished with double-doubles, marking the second time this season that two Blazers have recorded a double-double in a game.
Jordan Walker scored 28 points while knocking down seven threes.
Trey Jemison matched his career high with 14 rebounds.
The Blazers have dropped three-straight games for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
UAB has allowed 80+ points in each of its five losses.
