9/30/2022 10:30:00 PM | Men's Soccer
BIRMINGHAM – UAB Men's Soccer (2-6-1, 0-2-1 AAC) played to a 0-0 draw against No. 18/12 Tulsa (5-1-2, 1-1-1 AAC) in the first American Athletic Conference contest ever at PNC Field. Jack Hudson picked up his third shutout of the season while making six saves.
The Golden Hurricane were able to put pressure on the UAB goal throughout the night, but Hudson stood tall, not allowing a goal despite facing 23 shots in the game.
In the first half, Tulsa was nearly able to break through when Henry Sach headed a ball toward the net, but Owen Travis was able to clear it off the line with a header. Later in the period, Austen Schweinert seemed to put the visitors ahead, but his shot deflected off the right post.
In the 73rd minute, UAB's Nir Shemesh picked up a pair of yellow cards, forcing the Blazers to play with just 10 players. Hudson and the UAB back line kept Tulsa off the board for the remaining 17 minutes to secure the draw.
NOTES
The Blazers will host South Florida on Wednesday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at PNC Field. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
