UAB Men’s Golf Places Fourth at Graeme McDowell Invitational

GADSDEN, Ala. – Led by a top 10 finish from senior Ethan Hagood, the UAB men's golf team placed fourth at the 2022 Graeme McDowell Invitational at RTJ Silver Lakes.
On a course that played tremendously difficult, the Blazers shot +38 as a team and finished behind Lipscomb (+19), North Alabama (+23) and Louisiana (+29).
Hagood shot his low round of one under 71 in the final round to propel him 14 spots up the leaderboard as he tied for ninth place overall. Hagood shot 73-78-71 = 222, +6 for the tournament and finished four strokes behind the winner.
Alfie Fox and Garrison Guthrie both finished in a tie for 15th place at +9 (225). Fox fired a four-under 68 in the first round, and followed that up with an 81-76 in rounds two and three. Guthrie, who was participating as an individual, was steady throughout the tournament by shooting 76-74-75.
Matthew Streitman who was also playing as an individual, was UAB's fourth player inside the top 20 with a 19th place finish at +10 (76-76-74 = 224).
Cole Imig (79-76-75 = 230) and Price Brown (77-74-79 = 230) each tied for 28th overall at +14, while Paul Bruce rounded out the starting lineup in a tie for 46th place (76-79-81 = 236, +20).
John Bruce, playing as UAB's third individual, finished in 49th place at +21 (79-79-79 = +21).
The Blazers return to the course Oct. 9-11 at the Carolina Collegiate Invitational hosted by USC Upstate.
