UAB Football Home Schedule Preview: Game 1 – Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM – With the UAB football team set to open the season in just 80 days, here is what you need to know about Birmingham's College Football Kickoff against Alabama A&M at Protective Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 1.
For a fifth-straight year, UAB's season opener falls on a non-Saturday of Week 1. From 2018-2020, UAB opened the year on a Thursday, and last season on a Wednesday against Jacksonville State in Montgomery. UAB is 6-0 in season openers under the direction of head coach Bill Clark.
UAB returns to a Thursday night kickoff this year for the third meeting between the in-state schools, and the first since UAB made its triumphant return to the playing field on Sept. 2, 2017. The Blazers defeated the Bulldogs 38-7 in that contest.
This year's game is a nationally televised contest on CBS Sports Network and kicks off at 7 p.m. CT.

Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home football game during the 2022 season.

The Blazers return seven starters on offense and nine starters or co-starters on defense. UAB has 43 wins over the last five years, which is the most of any team in Conference USA.
