UAB Concludes Regular Season at UTSA

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball team will conclude its 2022 regular season schedule with a three-game series at UTSA. This weekend's trip to San Antonio will be UAB's final road trip before traveling to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, for the Conference USA Tournament beginning on Wednesday, May 25, at Pete Taylor Park.
This week's series against the Roadrunners will begin on Thursday at 6 p.m. Friday's game will also begin at 6 p.m., while Saturday's regular season finale is set to begin at noon at Roadrunner Field. All three games will stream live on CUSA.tv. Live stats will also be available by clicking here.
UAB (30-21, 12-15 C-USA) clinched its 14th 30-win season and first since 2015 with a 10-8 victory over Troy on Tuesday. The Blazers scored all 10 of their runs with two outs, holding off a late rally from the Trojans to finish the season with an 8-3 record in midweek games.
Four Blazers recorded multi-hit performances in the midweek victory, highlighted by a 3-for-5 day at the plate with a double and four RBI from Christian Hall. Hall continues to lead the Blazers with a .379 batting average, .598 slugging percentage, .452 on-base percentage and a 1.050 OPS.
John Marc Mullins, who recorded a pair of hits and scored three runs against the Trojans, leads the Blazers with 51 runs scored, 67 hits and 13 doubles. The second baseman also ranks second on the team with a .330 batting average, raising his batting average 50 points since UAB's game at Mississippi State on April 12.
On the mound, UAB will feature its usual weekend rotation of Jackson Reynolds on Thursday, Leo Harris on Friday and Brooks Walton on Saturday. Walton earned his sixth pitching victory in Sunday's 14-4 win over FIU at Young Memorial Field. His six pitching victories tie for first on the team with freshman reliever Thomas Ballard.
As a staff, UAB ranks third in Conference USA with a 4.51 ERA. The Blazers also rank second in the league with 15 saves, which have come from five different pitchers.
UTSA (33-18, 17-10 C-USA) ranks third in the Conference USA standings entering the final weekend of the regular season. The Roadrunners top the league in batting average (.298) and triples (13) with five batters hitting .305 or better this season. Leyton Barry paces the Roadrunners with a .327 batting average, while Jonathan Tapia leads UTSA and ranks tied for third in Conference USA with 19 doubles.
UTSA's rotation will feature right-hander Daniel Garza on Thursday and right-hander Jacob Jimenez on Friday. The Roadrunners rank seventh in Conference USA with a 5.38 team ERA.
UTSA leads the series 5-3. Thursday's matchup will be the first between the two teams in San Antonio.
