4/6/2022 2:51:00 PM | Women's Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM- The UAB track and field team will host its second home meet in two weeks Thursday-Saturday at the Green and Gold Invite and Multi. Events start at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, 10:00 a.m. on Friday, and 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
"Coming off of an important home meet, we are looking to ramp up the competition and hit some big marks," said Coach Kurt Thomas. "Hopefully the ladies have some confidence going into this meet. Laney Kronz is starting us off in the Heptathlon Thursday. She's a gamer and hopefully she can continue to improve in the multis. Mya McDanal and Haley Dempsey have thrown the javelin well and we hope to see that more on Friday night. Kaylie Wright and the jumpers are ready for some good competitions also. The sprinters have put some nice races together, and this week more of them will be in their signature events; Makiyah Sills and Kat Duren in the 100m hurdles, Lisa Petkov and Imani Hanson in the 400m hurdles, Regina Harris in the 800m, Ebony Tolliver and Jabriana Jemison in the 400m. The Pole Vaulters have jumped well and we hope they can continue that. Overall, this team has done well at this point in the season and is ranked well in C-USA. We aren't satisfied and need to keep putting things together to be at our best in May."
UAB LATELY:
The Blazers are coming off a strong performance at the UAB Spring Invite last weekend, when the Blazers won numerous events and placed first overall among women's teams. Anna Massa set a facility record in the pole vault, and is currently tied for first in C-USA. Massa is currently ranked 9th in NCAA East Division and 15th nationally. Kat Duren is 26th in the East Division and 53rd overall.
Fans are encouraged to bring their own folding/camping/lawn chairs to the meet.
