TUSCALOOSA- The UAB track and field team competed well in a track meet that featured several quality opponents at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa this weekend.
"We took advantage of a beautiful weekend for track and field and came away with some good performances," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "The discus throwers had some nice throws in a deep field to start today. The 4x1 ran well and had a season best performance. Ebony Tolliver had a huge PR in the 400m to move up the conference rankings. Nia Hill high jumped well and Sydney Taylor ran a great 200m for a nice PR. There were still other events and performances we need to be better in. We'll get back to work and continue to get better for conference in a few weeks."
The Blazers had six top-eight finishes this weekend, in the 4x100 relay (relay team included Kat Duren, Kaylie Wright, Taylor Jones, and Ebony Tolliver, Kat Duren in the 100m hurdles, Nia Hill in the high jump, Anna Massa in the pole vault, Lisa Petkov in the 400m hurdles, and Ebony Tolliver in the 400m dash.
UAB will be on the road again next weekend when they compete in the Mississippi State Invite in Starkville, MS.
