AUBURN- The UAB track and field team performed at the War Eagle Invite this weekend in Auburn, AL. The Blazer 4x100 relay team finished third overall in the women's category.
""We had some good things happen this weekend.", said head coach Kurt Thomas. "There were some ups and downs too, but the ladies handled some adversity well and came out and competed well. Mya McDanal threw the javelin well Friday and Kaylie Wright had some good bounce to her in the long jump. The 4x1 was a new foursome and executed handoffs well to finish third. Danice Loney got a new season best in the pole vault. Regina Harris ran a good 800m and is racing confidently. Shauntia Landrum has triple jumped well all season and has been consistent, and so has Zoria Miller in the shot put. We're not satisfied with what we did this weekend, both good and bad. We'll get back to work and get better for the next one."
UAB will be on the other side of the Iron Bowl rivalry next weekend, when the team competes in the Alabama Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, starting Friday, April 22.
