BOCA RATON, Fla. – The UAB baseball team was unable to complete the sweep of Florida Atlantic on Sunday afternoon as the Owls took the series finale 13-6 at FAU Baseball Stadium.
Despite Sunday's loss, UAB (21-10, 7-5 C-USA) was able to take 2-of-3 from FAU (21-12, 7-5 C-USA) and the Blazers have now won three of their four conference series and seven of eight series overall.
FAU jumped on the Blazers early by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Caleb Floyd then continued his tremendous series at the plate by homering to right center, bringing the score to 4-1.
However, the Owls bats stayed hot as they scored two runs in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth to take a 12-1 lead and put the game out of reach.
The Blazer tacked on a run in the sixth with an RBI single from Christian Hall and four runs in the seventh with a two-RBI double from Andrew Roberts and a two-RBI double from Floyd. However, the deficit was too much to come back from as FAU won by seven.
UAB travels to the defending National Champion Mississippi State on Tuesday, followed by hosting 2021 NCAA participant Old Dominion on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Young Memorial Field.
