UAB Set for Midweek Game Versus Samford

BIRMINGHAM- After a 5-0 weekend in the Green and Gold Classic, UAB softball will be headed down the road to face cross-town rival Samford University. UAB (12-9) is 32-6 all-time against the Bulldogs. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. CT Tuesday night.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off a successful weekend at the Green and Gold Classic, going 5-0, and outscoring their opponents 28-6. Freshman Bella Wiggins leads the Blazers in batting average with a .354 percentage, Lilly Crowe leads the squad in homeruns, with 4, as well as RBIs, with 16. Sarah Cespedes (6-1) is coming off a strong performance this past weekend, she allowed only 8 hits across three games, nine innings, and 40 batters. UAB finished the weekend with three straight shutouts.
In their final game against Harvard, UAB recorded 11 hits.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Samford is coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Ole Miss Classic, with both of their wins coming versus Saint Louis. The Bulldogs currently hold a 10-9 record. Mary Katherine Tedder leads Samford in slugging percentage with a .732 mark, as well as home runs with 4. McKenzie Newcomb (6-5) is the Bulldogs top pitcher, with 62 strikeouts.
