Track and Field Competes at Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTA- The UAB track and field team began its 2022 outdoor season this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. 18 Blazers finished in the top 10 in their respective events.
Kaylie Wright finished fourth in the long jump. Kat Duren and Makiyah Sills finshed 3rd and 4th respectively in the 60m hurdles. Anna Massa tied for second in the pole vault, and Shauntia Landrum placed third in the triple jump.
"We had a very solid overall first outdoor meet." Said head coach Kurt Thomas. "There was some obvious rustiness, but that's to be expected. The girls competed hard and came away with tons of season opening best performances. Mya McDanal had a great javelin competition. Shauntia Landrum triple jumped well. The 100m hurdlers looked good. Lisa Petkov opened with a good 400m. We saw some things we all need to work on. We'll address those in the coming weeks and keep getting better."
The Blazers will compete next in the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh North Carolina, hosted by NC State. This meet will go from Thursday, March 24, through Saturday March 26.
