UAB Men's Tennis Travels to Virginia for Matches Against William & Mary, Old Dominion

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team opens its four-game road stretch this weekend with a pair of matches in Virginia, traveling to William & Mary and Old Dominion on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Saturday's match against the Tribe is set for 11 a.m. CT in Williamsburg, Virginia, while Sunday's match against the Monarchs is also scheduled for 11 a.m. CT in Norfolk, Virginia. The Blazers are 1-0 in C-USA play this season, recording a 4-1 win at Southern Miss on Feb. 20.
UAB LATELY
UAB (6-9) had its three-match winning streak snapped this past week, dropping matches at Troy and at home against Georgia Southern. The Trojans halted UAB's three-game winning streak with a 5-2 victory over the Blazers, securing the doubles point before reeling off three straight victories in singles to seal the match.
On Sunday, Georgia Southern opened the match with a doubles victory and then earned singles victories on courts four, five and six to seal the win for the Eagles. Michal Lusovsky, who earned a win in singles on court one over Troy, earned another win for the Blazers on Sunday with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Georgia Southern ace Alexandros Roumpis.
Overall, the Blazers hold a 36-47 singles record and a 14-25 mark in doubles play. UAB is 1-1 against William & Mary and 2-8 against Old Dominion in the respective series histories.
WILLIAM & MARY
William & Mary (8-4) has won five straight matches following a 4-1 loss to Old Dominion on Feb. 16. The Tribe has dropped only four individual matches during its five-game winning streak, posting wins over Richmond, James Madison, Brown, Navy and Temple.
Three student-athletes for the Tribe have 11 wins or more, including Harrison Brown (15-4), who has won five straight singles matches. Overall, William and Mary, who ranks No. 72 in the most recent ITA rankings, holds a 75-42 mark in singles and 41-12 mark in doubles play.
OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion (9-4) has also won five straight matches, reeling off wins over then No. 60 Furman, Virginia Tech, Kennesaw State, Navy and Rice. The Monarchs, who rank No. 60 in the latest ITA rankings, hold a 35-28 overall record in singles play this season and a 15-16 mark in doubles.
Luca Maldoner leads the Monarchs with a 9-3 overall record, holding a perfect 3-0 mark on court one. Old Dominion is 6-0 in matches played in Norfolk this season.
