UAB Travels to North Alabama for In-State Match

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team will travel to Florence for an in-state matchup at North Alabama on Wednesday. Wednesday's first serve is set for 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB dropped a pair of matches over the weekend to ETSU and Georgia State. The Blazers dropped the doubles point to open Saturday's home match against ETSU, but Roman Postolka and Michal Lusovsky would twice tie the match at 1-1 and 2-2, respectively, with singles victories in straight sets. Lusovsky dispatched ETSU ace Dimitri Badra 6-4, 6-2 on court one, while Postolka defeated ETSU's Thiago Pernas 6-0, 6-3 on court four.
The Blazers fell 4-0 to a strong Georgia State team in Atlanta. Freshman Nir Vodavoz not only made his doubles debut on Saturday against ETSU, but he also made his singles debut on Sunday against the Panthers.
Vojtech Podzemny (5-4) and Roman Postolka (5-3) lead the Blazers in singles victories this season. The doubles pairings of Postolka and Lusovsky (2-1) and Postolka and Nikola Puric (3-2) each hold winning records.
UAB is 19-0 against North Alabama in the all-time series history. The Blazers earned their first win of the season at home against UNA on Jan. 30, earning a convincing 6-1 victory.
NORTH ALABAMA LATELY
North Alabama is 0-8 after going 4-14 in 2020-21. The Lions have faced a difficult stretch since taking on the Blazers on Jan. 30, facing No. 19 Mississippi State, No. 15 Ole Miss twice and Memphis all on the road.
Guilherme Diniz (2-5) has earned both his victories in the No. 5 spot this season. The Lions hold a 2-37 overall record in singles this season. North Alabama holds a 1-20 record in doubles play.
