Kat Duren Named C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week

BIRMINGHAM- Kat Duren has been named the Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. At the Harvard Crimson Elite Invitational last Friday, Duren set a new UAB record with an 8.39 second time in the 60m hurdles.
"What a well-deserved honor for Kat." Said Coach Kurt Thomas. "I'm proud of her. She had a good weekend in Boston, broke a school record and competed with some of the best in the country to earn this award. She's a great competitor and a very hard worker, so it feels good to see that hard work pay off. As excited as she is about this, we are going to keep our goals focused on the indoor championships in 10 days."
Kat Duren has had a superb start to her freshman season. In addition to her new record this past weekend, she also set a personal best in the 200m (24.87). Her 60m hurdles time ranks second in the C-USA this season and 55th nationally as of Tuesday.
