UAB Battles South Alabama in Wednesday Afternoon Match

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team will travel South for an in-state matchup at South Alabama on Wednesday. Wednesday's match at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts in Mobile, Alabama, will begin at 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (1-2) dropped its most recent match 7-0 on Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the Crimson Tide. UAB's Roman Postolka earned a dominant opening-set victory in singles play with a 6-0 win on court three. Alabama's German Samofalov, however, rallied with a 7-6 (7-5) win in the second set before outlasting Postolka in the tiebreaker 1-0 (10-5).
Vojtech Podzemny leads the Blazers with two singles victories this spring, posting a 1-0 record in the No. 3 spot and a 1-1 mark in the four spot. Michal Lusovsky, Nikola Puric, Thanos Spyropoulos and Postolka have also earned singles victories so far in the spring season.
SOUTH ALABAMA LATELY
South Alabama (5-1) has won back-to-back matches after suffering its only defeat of the season at Florida State on Jan. 21. In their victories, the Jaguars have only dropped one set, sweeping Samford, Stetson and West Alabama so far this season.
Five Jaguars have winning records in singles this season, highlighted by Louis Delcour (15-3), Maxime St-Hilaire (14-3) and Sebastian Collard (14-4). St-Hilarie and Clements lead the Jaguars with a 6-1 doubles record.
THE SERIES AGAINST SOUTH ALABAMA
UAB has a 6-20 record against the Jaguars, winning its last match against South Alabama on April 8, 2018, in Mobile. Former Blazer Kenton Parton clinched the 4-3 victory for UAB with a 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 win on court three.
