UAB Men's Tennis Falls 5-1 at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. – Despite opening the match with a victory in doubles, the UAB men's tennis team dropped Wednesday afternoon's matchup at South Alabama 5-1.
Blazers Michal Lusovsky and Roman Postolka quickly put the Blazers one match within the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court one. After South Alabama responded with a win on court two, Vojtech Podzemny and Nikola Puric outlasted South Alabama's Martin Bugaj and Juan Accossatto on court three 7-6 (7-5) to put the Blazers up 1-0.
In singles, Lusovsky, Podzemny and Postolka each earned wins in the first set of their respective matches. Lusovsky earned a 6-3 win in the opening set against Jaguars' ace Sebastien Collard. Collard would rebound from the opening set defeat, however, to notch a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory on court one.
Podzemny earned a 6-4 win in the opening set against Maxime St-Hilaire, but St-Hilaire would respond with back-to-back set victories to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. Postolka's match would go unfinished after Jack Clements knotted up the match at one set apiece.
UAB's Noah Malige made his debut on Wednesday, teaming up with Thanos Spyropoulos in doubles before dropping his singles match on court five.
Up next, UAB will travel to Fort Myers, Florida, for a pair of matches at FGCU. UAB will open the weekend against FGCU on Friday at 4 p.m. CT before playing a neutral site matchup against Buffalo at 2 p.m. CT.
