UAB Travels to Florida for Matches Against FGCU, Buffalo

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's tennis team will travel to the Sunshine State this weekend for a pair of matches in Fort Myers, Florida. UAB will take on FGCU on Friday at 4 p.m. CT before concluding the weekend with a match against Buffalo at 2 p.m. CT.
UAB LATELY
UAB (1-3) dropped its most recent match 5-1 at South Alabama on Wednesday. The Blazers opened the match with a 1-0 lead, clinching the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Michal Lusovsky and Roman Postolka quickly put the Blazers one match within the doubles point with a 6-2 win on court one. After South Alabama recorded a win on court two, the pairing of Vojtech Podzemny and Nikola Puric clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) on court three.
The Blazers earned three opening set victories on Wednesday. Lusovsky (6-3), Postolka (7-6) and Podzemny (6-4) opened their matches with wins in the first set. South Alabama, however, rallied to clinch the match behind Jaguars' ace Sebastien Collard posting a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win on court one.
FGCU LATELY
FGCU (3-2) has won three of its first five matches after posting an 8-6 overall record this past season. The Eagles have notched wins over Binghamton, Troy and Keiser so far this spring.
FGCU holds a 29-40 record in singles matches and an 18-13 overall mark in doubles play. Sophomore ace Magnus Johnson (8-3) leads the Eagles with eight victories, posting a 4-1 record on court one during the spring season.
UAB is 3-0 all-time against FGCU, winning its past two matches in the series via 4-3 decisions.
BUFFALO LATELY
Buffalo (0-4) has won just two sets so far in four spring matches, notching a win in doubles play and a win on court one in its match at Drexel. Overall, Buffalo holds a 31-54 record in singles matches and 23-23 record in doubles play.
Simon Wibler (7-3) and Cheng Tang (7-6) pace the Bulls in singles victories.
Saturday's match will mark the first all-time meeting between the Blazers and Bulls.
