BIRMINGHAM – The UAB rifle team will compete in the NCAA Qualifiers in Statesboro, Georgia, on Saturday morning. Saturday's competition is set to begin at 7 a.m. CT.
Saturday's action will stream live on Twitch.
The top eight teams nationally qualify for the NCAA Championships held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. Each team submits its top three match scores and its team aggregate score from the NCAA Qualifier match. Those four scores are then averaged together for a total qualifier score.
The Blazers will send six student-athletes to Saturday's match in Statesboro – seniors Sophia Flores and Jordan Blankenship, juniors Tommy Loring, Amy Kohan, and Maggie Vonderau, and sophomore Taylor Jones.
Kohan has paced the Blazers in individual aggregate scoring in UAB's past four matches, matching her season-best aggregate score of 1,167 with 590 in the air rifle and 577 in the smallbore. Flores and Vonderau have also each led the Blazers in individual aggregate scoring twice this season.
Following UAB's time in Statesboro, the Blazers will conclude their season at the SoCon Championships in Lexington, Virginia, on March 5-6.
