LAKE CHARLES- The UAB softball team fell today in a grueling 12 inning game versus Tulsa on the final day of the Evangeline Bank and Trust Invitational.

After a quick start by the Blazers, which saw UAB (1-4) jump out to an 8-0 lead thanks to a grand slam by Lilly Crowe at the top of the 1st, Tulsa (1-3) got two batters in to make it an 8-2 lead.

The Blazers then scored two runs at the top of the 2^nd inning to stretch the advantage to 10-2, before the Tulsa bats started to heat up in the 4^th inning after a scoreless 3^rd. The Golden Hurricanes scored six runs in quick succession to make it 10-8, and after UAB was unable to put the game away in the 5^th, Tulsa scored runs in the 6^th and 7^th inning to force an 8^th.

Innings 8 and 9 came and went without any scoring, as both teams made important stops that kept the game going. UAB finally got back on the board in the 10^th, but Tulsa answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 10^th to continue the game at 11 apiece. The 11^th inning went quickly, as both teams failed to get a hit, or score any runs. The 12^th and final inning featured a run via RBI for the Blazers, which gave them a 12-11 lead. At the bottom of the 12^th however, Tulsa managed to get the bases loaded, and a late double gave the Golden Hurricanes the two runs they needed to secure the victory.

UAB deployed five different pitchers throughout the game, who combined for 10 strikeouts. The Blazers tallied 13 hits on the day and scored all of their runs via RBI, but slowed down from home plate in key moments. As a team, the Blazers had six fielding errors.

UAB will have its home opener at 6:00 p.m. versus Troy University this Wednesday at Mary Bowers Field. Fans can purchase 4 tickets and 4 popcorns for $20 here.
