BIRMINGHAM – Head Coach Jesse Lawley has named Cory Grover as the new assistant coach for the UAB women's golf program.
"I am so excited to have Cory join the UAB women's golf program. The best thing about Cory is his heart to serve and build a program here with these amazing ladies. He truly cares about the athletes in every aspect from academics to golf to their every day life. He is a great asset from his experience in the golf industry as well as from Buena Vista University, and I am so thankful for him and his willingness to hit the ground running. Welcome to the Blazer family, Cory!"
Grover comes to Birmingham from Division III Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he was the men's and women's assistant golf coach.
Along with coaching, Grover also has managerial experience as he served as the General Manager of the Lake Creek Country Club in Iowa.
"It is an honor to join the UAB women's golf program and assist Coach Lawley and the team as we transition into the next era of Blazer golf. After visiting Birmingham, touring campus and meeting with athletic staff, I knew this would be a great environment to coach. My family and I look forward to becoming a part of the Blazer family and community."
Grover graduated from Mayville State University in North Dakota with a degree in physical education and a minor in coaching. He was a football student-athlete and was a two-time NAIA Academic All-America selection.
Grover is married to wife Heather Grover, and they have one son Everett (11).
The Blazers return to the course for their championship season beginning in February at the Lady Bison Classic hosted by Lipscomb in Panama City, Fla.
