MBB Resumes Conference Play Against UTEP

BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's basketball (10-2, 1-0 C-USA) returns to action after Christmas break to take on UTEP (8-4, 1-0 C-USA) at 6:30 p.m. CT at Bartow Arena on Thursday evening. Fans can purchase two tickets for only $23 per game in the lower bowl of Bartow Arena for both the UTEP and UTSA games this weekend. Follow this link for more.

SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers lead the all-time series 16-9 and have won each of the last seven meetings, dating back to 2018.
LAST TIME OUT
UAB opened conference play with a hard-fought 76-68 win over Charlotte. The Blazers had four players finish in double-figures, led by Jordan Walker and Trey Jemison. Walker finished with 25 points and five rebounds while Jemison recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 points, 12 boards and three blocks.
EVER FAITHFUL, EVER LOYAL
Tavin Lovan played in his 138th game as a Blazer on Thursday, breaking his tie with Anthony Gordon for the most games played by an individual at UAB. Lovan is playing his fifth season in Birmingham.
FAST PACED, HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
The Blazers are yet again one of the highest scoring teams in the country under Andy Kennedy. After finishing the 2021-22 season ranking sixth in points per game nationally, UAB once again finds itself in the top ten at No. 5 with 86.9 points per game. The Blazers are listed at No. 3 according to KenPom in adjusted tempo.
NOTHING BUT "NET"
The Blazers currently sit at No. 52 in the NCAA's NET ranking system. UAB is the third-highest rated team in Conference USA, trailing only Florida Atlantic at No. 13 and North Texas at 41. Charlotte are just behind the Blazers are No. 66 and 73, respectively.
AK's REVIVAL
Head coach Andy Kennedy often talks about re-establishing the "Bartow Standard" in Birmingham by competing for and winning championships year after year. AK lived up to the standard in 2022, winning his first league tournament championship during his tenure as the Blazers' head coach. A win on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, made Kennedy the only UAB head coach to start each of his first three seasons with at least an 8-2 record through the first 10 games of each campaign. Kennedy added to his already impressive resume as he defeated Alabama State, becoming the fastest coach in UAB history to reach 50 wins.
