DeShields Named C-USA Rookie of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – Denim DeShields was named Conference USA Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In the Conference USA opener at Charlotte, DeShields recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. She followed that with another 14 point effort while drawing 10 fouls, pulling down five rebounds and making eight of nine from the foul line in the nonconference finale against Alcorn State.
The Blazers continue Conference USA play beginning Dec. 29 at UTEP and Dec. 31 at UTSA. The next homestand will be Jan. 5 against Florida Atlantic and Jan. 7 against FIU.
