UAB Dominates Mississippi Valley State 101-56

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team hit the century mark for the first time since 2019 in its 101-56 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday afternoon.
Emily Klaczek scored a season-high 20 points off the bench. Denim DeShields, Margaret Whitley, Lyndsey Robson and Maddie Walsh all scored in double-figures for the Blazers who improve to 7-1 on the season.
Anjanae Mueck scored 13 points and Zaria Harleaux grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Delta Devilettes, who fall to 2-7.
UAB led from wire to wire and had a double-digit lead for 31 minutes. The Blazers' lead would get as high as 47 points after Klaczek's jumper made the score 69-49 with 1:39 remaining in the 4th quarter.
Destinee McGhee's layup with 15 seconds remaining put UAB over the century mark and closed out the game's scoring.
As a team, the Blazers made season-highs 37 field goals and shot 54.4 percent from the field. They also has season-highs with 54 rebounds (Robson, 7) and 21 assists (Desiree Ware, DeShields, Klaczek 4 apiece).
Up next, the Blazers open Conference USA play at Charlotte on Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. (11 a.m. EST). The next home game is against Alcorn State on Dec. 21.
