BIRMINGHAM - UAB men's basketball (8-2) takes on Southern (4-7) on Sunday afternoon at Bartow Arena. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The Blazers are looking to move to 7-0 at home in 2022-23.

The contest is set to air on 100.5 ESPN JOX 2 with David Crane and Steve Mitchell on the call.

The basketball edition of Blazer Sportsline is set to begin on Monday, December 19 at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux Stadium Trace Location (5249 Peridot Place, Birmingham, AL 35244). The show, hosted by David Crane, will air live from 6 to 7 p.m. from Walk-On's and it can be heard on 100.5 ESPN JOX 2. The 11-episode show will feature men's basketball coach Andy Kennedy and women's basketball coach Randy Norton. Fans are encouraged to tweet questions to @UABLearfield.

SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers are 6-0 in the all-time series with the Jaguars, winning all six games at home.

LAST TIME OUT
UAB picked up its second win over an SEC opponent of the season against South Carolina, defeating the Gamecocks 84-70. The Blazers defeated two SEC opponents in one season for the first time since 2009-10.

UAB VS. THE SEC
The Blazers are 34-41 overall against current SEC teams. South Carolina became the first SEC program to play a game in Bartow Arena since 2016 in December. UAB has picked up wins over Georgia and South Carolina this season, marking the first time since 2009-10 that the Blazers have defeated two SEC teams.

GETTING "BUFF"
KJ Buffen has been one of the Blazers' most consistent players this season. He is scoring 11.9 points per game while grabbing 7.3 rebounds per game. Buffen scored a career-high 25 points with eight rebounds in the Blazers' win over South Carolina, leading the team in both categories. In nine of the Blazers' 10 games, he has shot over 50 percent from the field.

LEADING THE NATION
Jordan Walker currently leads the nation in points per game at 24.6. He dropped 38 points in the season opener against Alabama State, the most scored by a UAB player in a season opener ever. Walker then captured Sunshine Slam MVP honors after scoring 31 points to go along with 6 rebounds, five assists and five steals against Georgia. He earned C-USA Player of the Week honors for his performance in the tournament. He joined Andy Kennedy (7) and Carlos Williams (6) as the only two players in program history to score 30+ points six or more times.

SHARING IS CARING
The Blazers have shown a plethora of scoring options in 2022-23. Eleven different Blazers have already finished in double figures in a game this season, including Jordan Walker, Eric Gaines, KJ Buffen, Ledarrius Brewer, Javian Davis, Tavin Lovan, Trey Jemison, Ty Brewer, Tyler Bertram, Efrem Johnson and Tony Toney.
