Men’s Golf Builds Commanding Lead After First Two Rounds

GADSDEN, Ala. – The UAB men's golf team has built a 12 stroke lead after playing excellent golf in the first two rounds of the Graeme McDowell Invitational at RTJ Silver Lakes.
The Blazers shot 281 (-7) in the opening round and 277 (-11) in the second round for an overall score of -18 heading into Tuesday's 18 holes. Texas State is currently in second place at -6.
The Blazers have two players who are top three as Nick Robillard (-7) is tied for first and Khavish Varadan (-6) is third. Robillard, the reigning Conference USA Player of the Year, shot a five under 67 in the opening round and a two under 70 in the second round. Varadan shot a three under 69 in both rounds as those two enter Tuesday's round looking to lead the Blazers to back-to-back titles at the Graeme McDowell Invitational.
Alfie Fox is UAB's third player inside the top 20 after shooting even par (71-73 = 144) and is tied for 17th overall.
Ethan Hagood is one shot behind Fox and in a tie for 24th after a 74-71 = 145, +1. John Snoddy rounded out UAB's lineup by recovering nicely after an opening round 79 to shoot a five under 67 in the second round and is tied for 29th overall at +2.
UAB also fielded a second team along with two additional individuals. Sam Jeffcoat led the charge for UAB-B by shooting 72-73 and is tied with Hagood for 24th at +1.
