UAB Medals in Four Events on Final Day of C-USA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UAB women's track and field team medaled in four events on the final day of the 2021 Conference USA Championships.
The Blazers recorded 52 total points to finish in seventh place overall. Middle Tennessee was champion with 150 points followed by Rice (121.5) and UTSA (106.75).
"Our team had a good weekend," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "There were so many huge performances. We had many podium finishes and all-conference performances."
Makiyah Sills won silver in the 100m hurdles with a PR of 13.76. She earned UAB eight points. The 4x400m relay team of Karri Green, Ebony Tolliver, Regina Harris and Lisa Petkov also won silver. The team turned in a time of 3:42.83, good for eight points.
In the 400m hurdles, Lisa Petkov took home bronze with a time of 58.89. She earned UAB six points. Alayah Dozier's time of 24.22 in the 200m was a bronze medal finish good for six points. Dozier also earned one point with a PR of 11.86 in the 100m.
Karri Green had a PR of 53.80 in the 400m and earned the Blazers four points. Brittany Floyd also recorded a point for UAB with a time of 14.39 in the 100m hurdles.
"We are so proud of this team," Thomas added. "It's been a tough season, but they competed hard all along and couldn't be prouder of them."
Individual event student-athletes and relay teams accepted into the NCAA Preliminary Round of competition, taking place May 26-29, will be announced May 20. The top 48 individuals in each event will be accepted along with the top 24 relay teams. For those that qualify during preliminary rounds, the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
