Floyd in Second After Day One of C-USA Championships

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Brittany Floyd sits in second place with a point total of 3,193 after four events in the heptathlon on day one of the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The day started out with the heptathlon 100-meter hurdles. In the event, Floyd took second with a time of 14.27 for 941 points. In the high jump, Floyd placed third with a mark of 1.63 meters.
In the final two events, the Columbus, Ga. native placed seventh in the shot put (10.86 meters) and first in the 200-meter (24.93).
Freshman Laney Kronz is in 10th place with 2,496 points. Kronz placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (14.96), 12th in the high jump (1.42 meters), 13th in the shot put (9.45 meters) and seventh in the 200-meters (26.42).
Laci Turner sits in 13th with 2,340 points. Turner began the day with a 12th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, 13th in the high jump, 11th in the shot put and 10th in the 200-meter.
Day two of the Conference USA Championships begins on Friday at 10 a.m. with the hammer throw. The final three events of the heptathlon start at 4:30 p.m. with the long jump.
