Norton Adds Maria Roters to Roster

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton has announced the signing of Maria Roters, a transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson.

"We are very excited Maria chose to join our family at UAB," Norton said. "She is an outstanding basketball player.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain native is a 6-0 guard who spent two seasons with FDU.

"She gets it done in the classroom and is of the highest character," Norton said. "Maria is a versatile wing capable of playing multiple positions and can impact the game in a variety of ways. Her work ethic and skill set will help us compete for championships."

Roters started all 22 games during the 2020-21 season, averaging 11 points and five boards a game and with two 11-rebound performances, while shooting a team-high 51.9% from the field.

As a freshman, Roters was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team, averaging7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 29 appearances.
