UAB Track and Field Concludes First-Ever Home Outdoor Track Meet

BIRMINGHAM – In the first full-day of events at the UAB track and field complex, the Blazers came away with three wins.
"We had a fantastic day today and overall meet," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "It was special to the team to compete at home and they took advantage of it. I'm proud of them. We'll take stock and get ready for next week."
Makiyah Sills picked up the first win the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.94, 15 seconds faster than her previous best. The mark moves Sills into seventh in UAB outdoor program history.
Freshman Kaylie Wright took home the long jump title with a distance of 5.73-meters, moving her into eighth program history.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Karri Green, Ebony Tolliver, Regina Harris and Imani Hanson took the win. The relay group finishing with a time of 3:49.48 to just edge out Alabama A&M who crossed the finish with a time of 3:50.87.
Pole vaulter, Anna Massa, placed second with a height of 3.85 meters.
As a team, UAB placed third overall with 114 total points. Arkansas State took the team title with 139.5 points, while Samford finished in second with 128 points.
The Blazers will be back in action April 9-10 at the Alabama Crimson Tide Invite. Meet information will be available on the UAB track and field schedule page.
