HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UAB beach volleyball team opens postseason play at the CCSA Tournament on Friday morning against Southern Miss at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., with first serve set for 9 a.m. CST.
UAB earned the No. 4 seed in the Blue Bracket and faces the fifth-seeded Golden Eagles. The winner of the UAB-USM match will play top-seeded Georgia State at 12 p.m. on Friday. The tournament is a double-elimination format.
"With every conference tournament, you get to experience every team's journey come to fruition," said head coach Terri Del Conte. "This is an incredibly exciting time for us to make magic happen alongside and against a solid network of programs."
The Blazers (12-13) are two wins away from tying a program record for most single season victories. UAB has already established a new school record for most CCSA wins in a season with five, and also cracked the top 20 national poll for the first time ever.
UAB's top duo of Rachel Tam and Mikayla Law-Heese lead UAB into the conference tournament. This pair has played every match on court one this season and owns a mark of 12-11 together. Tam is 14-11 overall after playing with Adriana Pereira when Law-Heese missed one day of action at Southern Miss.
Friday's contest between UAB and Southern Miss will be the third time the two teams have met this season. The Blazers won each of the previous two matches by identical scores of 4-1. UAB is 3-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles.
