Massa Wins Pole Vault on Final Day of War Eagle Invite

AUBURN, Ala. – Anna Massa won her second pole vault competition of the outdoor season on Saturday at the War Eagle Invitational.
Massa had a personal-best jump of 4.07-meters in the win and moved into second in Conference USA. The marks places the junior in the top-25 on the NCAA East qualifying list.
"We had a good weekend," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "The team competed great and came away with some huge PRs, higher conference rankings and a few put themselves into NCAA qualifying spots."
Junior Lisa Petkov had a top-three finish in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 59.61. The time moves her into third in the conference and into the top-25 in the NCAA East.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Makiyah Sills had a top-10 finish with her time of 14.02. Brittany Floyd finished in sixth in the long jump with her mark of 5.74-meters.
Ebony Tolliver and Regina Harris had top-10 conference times in their respective events. Tolliver placed 20th in the 400-meter dash at 56.46. Harris finished the 800-meters in 2:13.84 to place 14th.
Over the two days, 12 Blazers had personal-best marks.
"This is an important time of the year with academics and getting close to championship season," Thomas added. "The team handled their business this weekend."
The Blazers return to the track for the final regular season meet at the LSU Alumni Gold on April 23-24 in Baton Rouge, La. Meet information can be found by clicking here.
