Blazers Host UAB Spring Track and Field Invite

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB track and field team hosts its first ever on-campus outdoor track meet April 2-3 for the UAB Spring Invitational.
"We are excited to host the first on-campus home track meet in the history of UAB track and field," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "Our athletes are excited about being able to defend their home track. As coaches, we have waited for this for a long time. We cannot wait to put on a great event. We are ready for a great meet and letting our athletes to their thing."

MEET INFORMATION
Competition on Friday at UAB Spring Invite is set to start at 1 p.m. with the javelin throw. Saturday's action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and 5000-meters.

AL SCHMIDT RELAYS RECAP
The Blazers brought home three event wins last weekend at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays. Anna Massa won the pole vault with a mark of 4.01 meters, which ranks second in outdoor program history. Britney Johnson took the gold in the steeplechase with a time of 11:25.50 and the 4x200-meter relay team finished with a time of 1:36.65.

UAB travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Alabama Crimson Tide Invite, April 9-10. Meet information will be updated at a later date.
