Beach Defeats Southern Miss on First Day of Horned Frog Classic

BIRMINGHAM β The UAB beach volleyball team defeated Southern Miss 4-1 and lost to #14 FIU 4-1 on the first day of the Horned Frog Challenge hosted by TCU in Fort Worth.

UAB won on courts one, two, three and five in the victory over USM, and in the process Annie Pringle became the winningest court three player in program history.

Senior SalliAnne Napoliaton ran her record to a perfect 6-0 this season with wins over both FIU and Southern Miss and moved into a tie for 10th place in overall career victories at UAB with 35.

UAB and FIU were even after splitting on courts four and five, bit the Panthers won courts 1-3 for the overall victory.

UAB responded by breezing past the Golden Eagles and improving to 4-2 overall on the season. The Blazers won in straight sets in three of their courts, while Rachel Tam and Mikalya Law-Heese won in three sets on court one.
