UAB Beach Defeats Central Arkansas, Falls to No. 11 TCU

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team defeated Central Arkansas 5-0 and lost to No. 11 TCU in heartbreaking fashion 3-2 on the final day of the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth on Saturday.
Senior SalliAnne Napolitano won both of her matches on court four and improved her overall record to 8-0 this season. In the process, she moved into ninth place on UAB's career wins list with 37.
The Blazers (5-3) breezed past Central Arkansas by winning every court in straight sets. Freshmen Jessica Ennis and Pearl Moore notched their first career victory against the Bears on court five with a 21-14, 21-18 win.
In the second match of the day versus TCU, UAB surged ahead 2-0 after wins on court four and five. Napolitano and Arden Copping were victorious on court four 21-18, 21-15, while Sarah Dickson and Ella Alexander won on court five In three sets 21-18, 14-21, 15-9.
The Horned Frogs would rally though, and won on courts one, two and three to take the 3-2 victory.
The Blazers will have a rematch with TCU next weekend in Gulf Shores when UAB hosts the third annual March to May. UAB will also play No. 1 LSU, No. 10 Grand Canyon, No. 19 Georgia State and Tulane at that tournament.
