UAB Beach Volleyball Falls to #11 Grand Canyon, 4-1

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Sarah Dickson and Ella Alexander were victorious in three sets on court five, but the UAB beach volleyball team fell 4-1 to No. 11 Grand Canyon on the opening day of the March to May Friday morning at The Hangout in Gulf Shores.
Dickson and Alexander are now 2-0 as partners on court five with victories over TCU and GCU this season. Today, the duo won the first set over GCU 25-23, then fell in set two 18-21. In the third and decisive set, the Blazers played with the lead for the majority of the set and came out winners, 15-11.
Court one also went three sets as Rachel Tam and Mikayla Law-Heese rallied to win the second set 24-22, but ultimately fell 15-9 in the third set.
Grand Canyon would win in straight sets on courts two, three and four to claim to 4-1 overall victory. GCU also defeated #10 TCU earlier in the day.
The Blazers (5-4) are back in action on Saturday with contests against No. 20 Tulane and No. 18 Georgia State.
