UAB Women’s Basketball Closes Out Regular Season with Fort Valley State Matchup

BIRMINGHAM – UAB (8-12, 3-11 C-USA) closes out the regular season on Friday afternoon when it hosts Fort Valley State University (5-5, 4-4 SIAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Bartow Arena.
UAB LATELY
It has been 12 days since UAB took the court. The Blazers' last two games were at Old Dominion on Feb. 19-20, when they split the series with the Monarchs.
In game one, senior Zakyia Weathersby delivered a career-high 21-rebound and 27-point double-double, earning her eleventh double-double of the season and helping UAB to a 74-61 victory.
Lindsey Dullard scored 15 points in that matchup while Caitlynn Daniels notched nine assists, both career-highs from the freshmen.
Despite falling to ODU in game two 70-47, Weathersby posted a second straight double-double, leading the team with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Daniels and Weathersby were both recognized for their performances in Norfolk with Conference USA Weekly Honors on Feb. 22.
Weathersby was named C-USA Player of the Week, the first weekly honor of her career, while Daniels earned her second Freshman of the Week nod of the season.
FORT VALLEY STATE LATELY
Fort Valley State is a Division II school located in Fort Valley, Ga. The Wildcats, who are part of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), are 5-5 on the season.
They enter the matchup versus the Blazers on a three-game winning streak, with their last victory a 65-38 win over Albany State.
Fort Valley State is led by head coach Andrea Williams who is in her second year with the Wildcats.

UAB will travel to the Conference USA Championship that will be held in Frisco, Texas, from March 9-13.
Official brackets will be released by the league after the final regular season C-USA game is completed on Saturday.
