Massa Wins Pole Vault on Day Two of Bulldog Relays

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Anna Massa secured the third event win for the UAB track and field team at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays on Saturday.
"We all had a pretty good weekend at the Al Schmidt Relays," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "The 4x100 ran very well and almost got the win. Anna followed with great vaults and a new PR. Brittany Floyd jumped unbelievable and got a huge PR. So many others raced well; Jabriana (Jemison), Agok (Ayuen), Makiyah (Sills) in the hurdles and Milãn (Brown) in the 100m."
Massa recorded a personal-best distance of 4.01 meters in the pole vault. The mark moves her to second all-time in outdoor program history.
In the javelin throw, Brittany Floyd notched a top-10 finish, placing seventh, with a distance of 36.44 meters. Floyd had a top-three finish in the long jump, with personal-best distance of 6.08 meters. Her distance in the long jump moves her into third all-time.
Makiyah Sills had a top-10 finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.25 seconds.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Sills, Lisa Petkov, Karri Green and Alayah Dozier finished with a time of 45.71. The mark moves the group into sixth all-time in outdoor program history.
Floyd had a top-three finish in the long jump, with personal-best distance of 6.08 meters. Her distance moves Floyd into third all-time.
Two other Blazers had personal-best days, Jabriana Jemison (25.29) in the 200-meter and Milãn Brown (12.38) in the 100-meter.
"We are excited to take this momentum into our home meet next weekend," Thomas added.
UAB will be back in action on April 2-3, hosting its first outdoor track meet. Meet information can be found by clicking here. No spectators will be allowed at the event.
