STARKVILLE, Miss. — Britney Johnson and the 4x200 meter relay team took home event wins on day one of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
"We had a good day here at Mississippi State," head coach Kurt Thomas said. "The discus throwers got solid marks and Nia high jumped well. But to get two event wins and a second place is special. It's a good way to start the weekend. We have lots of opportunities tomorrow."
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Johnson took home the win after finishing with a time of 11:25.50.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Makiyah Sills, Lisa Petkov, Karri Green and Alayah Dozier added the second event win of the day, finishing with a time of 1:36.65. The mark moves the group into fourth all-time in UAB outdoor history.
Sophomore Lauren Robinson had a second-place finish in the 5000-meter run. Her time of 17:27.28 beat out her previous best time by 50 seconds.
Nia Hill placed seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.62 meters.
UAB will be back for day two of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays on Saturday. Live results and meet information can be found on the UAB track and field schedule page.
