The first meeting between the Blazers and Mean Green happened in 1993, with UAB taking the match 3-0 in Washington D.C. In the last meeting between the teams on Sept. 17, 2019, North Texas took the 3-0 win in Denton.
SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN
- North Texas finished the 2019 season 17-11, 10-4 CUSA to finish third after the regular season.
- Since joining Conference USA in 2013, the Mean Green have made the C-USA Tournament six of the last seven seasons.
- Outside hitter Rhett Robinson was named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. In 2019, Robinson tallied 186 kills and 69 blocks in conference play.
THE LAST TIME OUT
- UAB faced Lipscomb in a home-and-home series on Jan. 29 and 30.
- The Bison took the 3-0 win in Nashville on Jan. 29. UAB won their first game of the season at home taking the three-set sweep against Lipscomb on Jan. 30.
- Head Coach Betsy Freeburg earned her first career win at home on Jan. 30.
- Sophomore Fernanda Maida led the Blazers in both matches with 27 combined kills and five blocks.
- Lidya Canturk produced 24 assists to lead UAB. Defensive specialist Brianna Muller recorded three aces at home.
STATS RANKINGS
- Maida is ranked in the top-50 in attacks per set (11.50, 37th), kills per set (4.67, 15th) and points per set (5.25, 17th). The marks also place her in the top-5 in Conference USA in all categories.
- Kiana Mack ranks second in Conference USA in blocks per set (1.25). Tatijana Fucka also ranks third in the category (1.17).
- Libero Erin Powers ranks fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.50).
