UAB Baseball Back Home to Host Alabama A&M

BIRMINGHAM — The UAB baseball returns home to host Alabama A&M for its second weekend series of the season on Friday. Friday (4 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.) are scheduled for Young Memorial Field and Sunday's series finale (1 p.m.) at Regions Field.
"We are looking forward to getting on the field Friday," head coach Perry Roth said. "Every game comes back to how we play. If we play clean baseball and execute in pressure situations, we will be in games. We played seven clean innings Tuesday but we are required to play clean baseball in every inning."
UAB VS. ALABAMA A&M
The Blazers hold a 13-2 overall record against the Bulldogs. The last meeting between the teams came on March 20, 2019 in a 16-8 game that went the way of Alabama A&M at Young Memorial Field.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers fell in their first midweek game of the season on the road against Troy, 10-3. UAB opened the season with a 2-1 series victory over Valparaiso at Young Memorial Field Feb. 19-21.
ALABAMA A&M LATELY
The first games for the Bulldogs were against No. 17 Auburn Feb. 23 and 24. In game one versus the Tigers resulted in a 18-2 loss. Game two also went the way of Auburn, 33-0.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Jess Davis leads the nation in stolen bases (5) and stolen bases per game (1.25). As a team, the Blazers rank sixth in stolen bases (9) and stolen bases per game (3.00).
CONFERENCE LEADERS
Jess Davis leads the conference in stolen bases (5) and stolen bases per game (1.25). Zack Davis leads in sacrifice flies (1). Dylan Cunningham leads in pitching appearances (2) and saves (1).

Jess Davis is currently eighth in program history in career stolen bases (59). He needs three more steals to move into seventh in front of Jonathan Merritt and two to tie (61).

Regions Field will accommodate fans, including Gold Card holders and students, with social distancing measures in place.
